Once you decide you want to leave your current role, the next question hits fast.
“What could I actually do instead?”
This is where many people freeze.
Not because they lack options, but because there are too many and no set way to judge them.
I'm here to help you move from guessing to choosing.
You need a smaller set of roles that make sense for you.

Most people start here by searching job boards. That's the wrong move.
They read titles.
They skim descriptions.
They save dozens of roles they “could maybe do.”
That creates more confusion.
Job titles are all over the place and descriptions are vague.
And many roles that sound right are wrong once you understand the work.
You don’t choose a role by name.
You choose it by what the work actually is.
When people get stuck here, it’s usually for one of three reasons:

You like many things and don’t know how to narrow.

You worry about choosing the “wrong” path.

You assume your next job needs to be your forever job.
The truth is simple.
You don’t need the best option.
You need a good first direction.
Job clarity comes after getting traction in your next role.Â
These are the core rules to follow at this stage
1. Fit matters more than interest
Liking an idea is not the same as liking the work.
Pay attention to how you want to spend your time each day.
2. Adjacent roles are easier than total pivots
You don’t need to start over.
The fastest moves build on what you already know.
3. Salary and growth are part of the decision
Enjoyment matters.
So does pay, flexibility, and long-term options.
Ignoring these now creates stress later.
4. You can change direction later
Your first role after teaching does not have to be your forever role.
It needs to move you forward, not trap you again.
