The Job Boards I Would Use If I Started My Career Change Today

If I started my career change right this minute, I'd search five places. That's it.
If I had to search more than five places a week, I'd stop searching.
It's late October. Your job search is happening in whatever's left of your evening after grading. A long list of boards eats that whole evening and shows you the same postings twice.
So here's my short list, what each one is good for and what I'd type into it.
The board I'd cut first
Any board that lets you search "jobs for teachers." It shows you tutoring and teaching jobs and calls it a career change.
I mean the boards built around that search, where a teacher category is the front door. You scroll for an hour and come out with a tutoring gig and a district posting.
The roles educators move into sit under titles like Implementation Specialist, Customer Success Manager and Instructional Designer. Nobody files those under "teachers."
The Five I'd Keep
1. edtech.com
Every posting is from a company in the learning space, so most of it is already close to where you're headed. I go through it every week. Set the filter to the last 7 days so you only see fresh postings.
What I'd search: Implementation Specialist, Customer Success, Account Manager
2. We Work Remotely
Remote only, and plenty of the companies posting there aren't edtech at all. Sort by Past Week.
What I'd search: Instructional Designer, Learning and Development, Enablement
3. Skip
It's updated regularly and it ONLY lists roles paying $60K and up. No lowballing there. Chelsea Maude Avirett runs it, and she's beyond reproach. (Full disclosure: that's my affiliate link.)
What I'd search: Literally anything Chelsea posts is solid gold for anyone in education, now or formerly.
4. Idealist
Nonprofits and mission-driven organizations post here: education nonprofits, literacy groups, foundations, museums, youth programs. It's the place to look when you want out of the classroom but still want your work to be about kids, families or learning. Plenty of these roles want exactly what you've been doing, just with adults in the room.
What I'd search: Program Manager, Program Coordinator, Education Coordinator
5. The careers pages of the companies you want most
This one isn't a board, and it might be the most useful place on the list. When I rebuilt my list of educator-friendly employers this month, I found an additional 180+ corporate training companies, and most of them never post on the job sites teachers check. Pick the 10 companies you'd most want to work for, bookmark their careers pages and check them ONCE a week.
This is the rhythm I'd set for my search
Same day every week. Same order. Same titles typed into each one.
Keep one running list of postings you'd actually apply to. Close every other tab.
When a title keeps showing up that you didn't search for, add it to your searches. Your list gets sharper every week that way.
Start this weekend by cutting the board with the teacher category. Then pick your five.
Tell me which board you're cutting. Reading this in your inbox? Hit reply, I read my own email. Reading on my website? Send me a message on LinkedIn.
Not sure which titles to type in yet? My quiz reads your school experience and points it at the path that fits. It takes five minutes. Take the quiz here.
Companies hiring for these roles run every Saturday in Jobs Jobs Jobs, my LinkedIn newsletter listing companies currently hiring former educators.
